Privacy Policy for LabelAI

This policy explains how LabelAI handles information. LabelAI is an app for iPhone, iPad and Mac that labels AI-generated and AI-modified images with a visible label and machine-readable metadata.

The short version

Your images are processed locally on your device. Corebird does not receive the images, their file names, their metadata or your labelling log through LabelAI. The app has no account, advertising, analytics or tracking, and it does not use a Corebird server. It contacts Apple only to offer and verify the optional one-time purchase of LabelAI Pro through StoreKit.

Images you label

LabelAI reads an image when you choose it from Files, a folder or the Photos library, or when you drop it into the app. The label is drawn and the file is written on your device. The app does not upload images for processing.

Labelled images are exported as new files to a folder you choose, to the Photos library or through the share sheet. An original file is replaced only if you choose "Replace Originals" and confirm it. For images in the Photos library, the labelled version is saved as an edit, and Photos keeps the original so you can revert to it.

To preset the classification, the app looks for existing AI hints in the image: an IPTC Digital Source Type, the presence of a C2PA manifest and known generator names in the metadata. This check happens locally. The result is a suggestion; you decide.

Metadata written into files

Besides the visible label, LabelAI writes information into the exported file:

  • the IPTC Digital Source Type, trainedAlgorithmicMedia for generated images or compositeWithTrainedAlgorithmicMedia for modified images
  • the AI system, its version and prompt information, but only if you enter them
  • alt text for screen readers, if you enter it
  • an own XMP record with a timestamp and a signature over the image and its marking

Metadata written into a file travels with the file. When you share or publish a labelled image, everyone who receives it can read this information, including an AI system name or prompt you entered. Leave these fields empty if you do not want to disclose them.

Existing camera metadata is kept. Location data can be removed on export. LabelAI does not add an invisible watermark and does not write C2PA manifests. If an image already carries a C2PA manifest, changing its pixels makes that manifest invalid; the app warns you about this.

Signing key

The signature in the XMP record is an ECDSA P-256 signature made with a key that the app stores in the keychain of your device. The key never leaves the device and is not sent to Corebird. The signature shows that the image and its marking have not changed since labelling. It does not identify you as the author and is not a C2PA certificate.

Photos access

LabelAI selects images from the Photos library through the system picker. Only the images you pick are made available to the app. When you save labelled images to Photos, the app asks only for permission to add images. Only if you choose to replace originals in the Photos library does the app ask for full access, which Photos needs to save an edit. It uses that access only for the photos you replace.

Labelling log

The log records your labellings for internal documentation. It is stored only on your device. You can export it as CSV or JSON; the exported file goes wherever you choose to save or share it. Corebird does not receive the log.

App settings

The app stores its settings locally, including presets, label appearance and, with EU LabelAI Pro, your own watermarks. These settings stay on the device.

Purchases

LabelAI Pro is sold as a non-consumable in-app purchase through Apple. Apple processes payment and account information. LabelAI uses StoreKit to request the product, complete or restore a purchase and check whether a verified entitlement exists. Family Sharing is enabled for the purchase. Corebird does not receive your payment-card details.

Apple may process purchase and device information under its own privacy policy and App Store terms.

Data collected by Corebird

The current app does not send images, metadata, logs, diagnostics or usage statistics to Corebird. Corebird therefore does not retain app-usage data and does not sell or share such data for advertising.

If you contact support, Corebird processes the information you choose to include so the request can be answered. Avoid attaching images, prompts or logs unless they are necessary and you are authorised to share them. The handling of website and support data is described in the privacy policy for corebird.de.

Children

LabelAI is a productivity utility and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated if the app's data handling changes. The date at the top shows when the text was last revised.
